First Days

Hey Wifa.

I wish it wasn't so, but I am starting to post to the blog again; which means we are apart :(

The flight was very long. I tried to sleep, but was to anxious to get any real rest. I would close my eyes for half an hour at a time, but would ultimately stay awake because I was so uncomfortable. Lufthansa is a nice airline, probably the best I have been on. It seems like I always hear people complaining about airplane food, but I was served dinner and breakfast and both we decent. When I landed in Frankfurt my initial instinct was to try and reach you. As I realized I needed to pay attention where I was heading, I focused on the airport until I found my terminal. The Frankfurt airport was very stark and made me think the stereotypes for Germany aesthetic were true. Not long after I found the terminal, I boarded my plane to Venice. On the plane I grew nervous because I had no idea what to expect. Flying to another country not really knowing anyone is intimidating.

I landed in Venice. The Venice airport is not very big. After I gathered my belongings, I headed outside to find Carmelo. He ended up finding me and we met. He is very nice and has a good sense of humor and a strong passion for art. The first place we went was a hardware store much like Home Depot. The first place I go to in Europe is a hardware store. Anyway, I spent the rest of the day with Carmelo getting ready to start the next day.

The next day, I woke up and met Carmelo for breakfast. We went to a cafe with Carmelo's friend Victor who is Albanian. He does all of the maintenance for the police compound. He didn't speak much english but we had a fairly long conversation. Several times we were both saying, "U.S.A and Europe #1!" He was a very animated guy and eventually Carmelo had to tell him to split, so I could begin working.

It has been pretty nice to wake up in the morning and know that I only have to work on art all day. I feel very lucky and am very grateful for this opportunity  My only wish is that you would be here to share it with me.

Sorry for the hasty recap of events, but I need to get some rest before tomorrow, and I think we have talked about most of these events.

I love you so much and miss you so much.

▤▧The Greys of Our Lives▨▤

The Story of Roger Penzabene

Roger Penzabene wrote a trilogy of songs as a testament to his love for his wife. His first song in the trilogy was "You're My Everything", written After learning of her cheating he was heartbroken. He then wrote "I Wish It Would Rain' describing his pain, then finally "I Could Never Love Another" to finish the trilogy of how he felt.

Unable to handle the extreme pain and unwilling to leave his wife, he wrote the last two songs as personal statements to her, publicizing the pain she caused him. After both songs were completed and recorded, tragically Roger committed suicide.

Hey Wifa.

I hope you get some rest on the bus. It will be so exciting to travel through Switzerland.

I got some catching up to do on the blog. I hope I can remember everything from yesterday.

Here it goes:

I got up around 7 on Wednesday. I worked in the studio and watered the lawn. Your dad picked me up at 9:30 and we headed to Northglenn. It was already hot by the time we got there and as we pulled up your dad told me we needed to fill the roll off dumpster with the couches and trash that had gathered behind the shopping center. There were probably four and a half couches. We had to push them with with the front of your dad's van to the dumpster. Once we dealt with the couches, we moved on to an enclosure that contained trash from the restaurant and who ever else was around to dump in. I can't even begin to describe this heap of garbage. It was as dirty and smelly as you can imagine. Despite its putrid state, someone found it a good place to sleep. Your dad and I joked about its luxurious view of the stars, but thinking about it now it is pretty sad. This was a place where I smelled one of the worst odors in my life and someone still found it a suitable place to sleep. It was a vile experience. It was an elaborate display of the humanity's negligence built up over time. The day's saving grace was that your dad and I whooped it in a few hours. We headed home around 12:30.

When I got home, I took a very cleansing shower. I rested a bit in the cool house and then headed to the studio. I worked for a few hours then took the dogs for a walk. The dogs rolled in the grass and sniffed around.

When we got home I made dinner. The evening after that was pretty mellow and I went to bed.

Today wasn't as eventful as yesterday. I made a smoothie for breakfast that was delicious. I cannot wait to make them for you. They are a good way to tackle a warm morning. I went to the Still and put in my time. It was pretty uneventful and presented little to transcribe here. It is funny to me that I can go work in a trash heap and my mind is more lucid than when I sit behind a desk and play robot. I need to look at Still's work more and appreciate it.

After work, I got home, cooked dinner, fed the dogs, then went to watch the basketball game.

And what a game it was. I wish we could have been together to watch it. I couldn't contain my dorkiness, even in public. There is just something about basketball. I made a list of things I would want to be if I weren't an artist. First, is a R&B singer. Second, is a meteorologist. And third a basketball player.

That's is for tonight baby. I hope you have a ton of fun in Basel. I wish I was with you. I will be dreaming of you my love. I miss you. One day closer to having you in my arms.

☂Happy I got you Baby.☂

Hey Wifa.

I hope you had a good nights rest. I am happy we were able to serendipitously meet online today.

I had a long day today. When I woke up and let the dogs out and the smell of fire wafted into the house. There is a fire burning in the mountains of west of Ft. Collins. It has burned 43,000 acres, the equivalent of 67 square miles.

As you know, your dad and I spent the day in Northglenn at a run down strip mall. In the entirety of the center there was only one dollar store occupying the space. It was grim. It was hard not to wonder what the point was during the day. We have the task of trying to make it presentable to prospective renters. I say good luck, the place looks like a money pit. However, I am happy it exist because it provides work for your dad and me. I spent the day sweeping the sidewalk of the strip mall. It was hot out and my shoulders were aching by the end of the day. I spent the whole day pushing a broom at the down and out strip mall. The whole time I kept reassuring myself that I can make something good come out of this by realizing that this work would fund my art work. You dad spent the day scraping windows. In the center of the space there was a restaurant called the "Los 3 Jalapenos." I think they marketed it as a multi-faceted restaurant. One game room, one restaurant and one speed dating space. On the interior, the space is a disaster. Clearly discarded. It became the home of vagrants who trashed the place. At one point and 82 year old woman came to the center hoping to eat at the restaurant that she liked. She found the shell of a triple threat restaurant that no longer existed. I thought of the memories she might have had in the space and how it exist presently. It was as if something had died. We wrapped up our day early and headed home.

After taking to you, I headed to the studio and started to apply plaster to the mold for the support shell.

At 7 I cleaned up and headed to the Santa Fe Tavern to watch the game. Oklahoma won. After the game, I came home and waited for you. I love you so much Wifa. I am going to bed to dream of you.
